Russian Tea

Would you care for a holiday recipe?  I am going to share my mama’s recipe for Russian Tea.  When I think of this tea, I can smell and taste it.  It is rooted in my remembrance of Christmas time growing up.  I can remember there being a pot of this tea simmering on the stove during family gatherings.  It is sweet and a bit tangy.  I think it would be a fun recipe for you all to try this holiday season.

Russian Tea

3 family size tea bags

4 cups of water

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 large can unsweetened pineapple juice

1 large can unsweetened orange juice (or you can buy a small can of frozen orange juice that makes 48 oz of juice)

1 small can frozen lemonade

2 to 3 sticks of cinnamon

How to:

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.  Turn off heat and steep tea bags and sugar about 15 minutes; remove bags.  Add cinnamon sticks and juices, then heat to a boil.  Boil for about 10 minutes and then cut back heat and simmer for another 30 minutes.  Remove cinnamon sticks.  Ready to serve at this point.  Will keep in refrigerator for a week.
